A Healthy Buddha Bowl for Balanced Body, Mind and Spirit

Our healthy Buddha Bowl is named after one of humankind’s great inspirations: Gautama Buddha. A monk, sage, and teacher believed to have taught between the 4th and 6th centuries BCE in northeastern India, Buddha preached what is known as the Middle Way: a path of moderation that is neither indulgent nor severely ascetic.

“Try to be mindful, and let things take their natural course. Then your mind will become still in any surroundings, like a clear forest pool. All kinds of wonderful, rare animals will come to drink at the pool, and you will clearly see the nature of all things. You will see many strange and wonderful things come and go, but you will be still. This is the happiness of the Buddha.” – Ajahn Chah

You Are What You Eat?

The path of moderation involves mindfully caring for our bodies, nourishing ourselves enough to live fully and follow our path in this world we are so fortunate to inhabit. At Nourish, we take the familiar phrase “You are what you eat” seriously — because we understand that the tissues of our bodies are literally made from the foods we consume. The resilience of our body’s tissues, down to the cells that make those tissues up, is directly related to choices we make about what we eat, as well as our ability to properly digest the nutrients in our food.

What Makes Our Healthy Buddha Bowl So Nourishing?

Our healthy Buddha Bowl is made with just the right balance of ingredients and flavors to nourish your body, satisfy your hunger, please your taste buds, and gently stimulate your digestive system for optimal assimilation of nutrients. And the delicious sauce we serve it with is spiced with Indian flavors, in a nod to the Buddha’s homeland.

Brown Rice is considered a whole grain because it contains the fiber-rich bran, the germ, and the endosperm of the grain. Brown rice contains more protein and fiber than white rice, and thus can help to lower cholesterol, control blood sugar, and nourish gut bacteria. Organic brown rice is the foundation of our healthy Buddha Bowl – but if you’re grain-free, you can swap it out for a bed of organic mixed greens.

We top our Buddha Bowl with a pile of colorful, nutrient-packed veggies: Massaged Kale, Avocado, Purple Cabbage, House Ginger Carrots, and Pea Shoots. A sprinkling of Pumpkin Seeds delivers protein, healthy fat and a satisfying crunch. Our Buddha Blend sauce, flavored with warming ginger, turmeric and garlic, is our favorite way to dress it, but you can choose from any of the sauces on our menu – all organic and made in-house.
